Thomas Crofton Croker (Cork, 1798 - Londra, 1854) è considerato il pioniere della ricerca folklorica nelle Isole Britanniche. Amico dei fratelli Grimm, che tradussero le sue opere in tedesco, e di Walter Scott, Charles Dickens e Thomas Moore, pubblicò numerose opere quali Legends of the Lakes, Popular Songs of Ireland, Researches in the South of Ireland, The Keen of the South of Ireland.
